Greeting Cards

Greeting cards are illustrated messages that express, either seriously or humorously, affection, good will, condolence, gratitude, sympathy or other sentiments. They can be divided into two general categories: seasonal and everyday cards. Seasonal cards include those for Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, graduation, Halloween and other holidays; everyday cards include birthday, anniversary, get-well and thank you cards.

Typically, the front of a card includes an image and decorative motif along with a pre-printed message for the occasion. Inside, there is a space for the sender to write a personalized message. Matching envelopes are sold with the cards. Depending on the occasion, the interior may also contain a poem or other printed text.

Envelopes

Envelopes are flat paper containers with sealable flaps meant to contain a letter or card. The standard envelope has a rectangular shape and is closed at the top by a flap. This flap is folded down over the side flaps and sealed where they overlap. Some envelopes have a window in the front and are called a window envelope. This type of envelope can be used for greeting cards and invitations but the plastic in the window creates problems in paper recycling. There are also special envelopes for documents and high value products with tamper-evident or tamper-proof features to help deter theft.

There are many other specialized envelopes such as clasp envelopes that use a metal clasp on the flap to hold them shut. These types of envelopes are often used for announcements and advertising, and specialty greeting cards.

Unlike the traditional black and white, some envelopes are made in color such as yellow, blue, pink or red. These are usually used by those who prefer a certain color or by businesses that want to express their company’s brand.

Business Cards

Business cards are more than just a piece of paper with your contact information; they help build your professional network, create a positive impression of your company image and serve as a tool for clients to refer you to others. The color, wording and texture of your business card can tell a story about the type of service you provide; for example, if you market children’s toys and games, your business cards should convey a playful personality while remaining professional.
